ARBORY PLAYERS

From recent production "Beauty and the Beast."

The Arbory Players have existed for over 30 years, providing a wide range of dramatic entertainment in the area.

They are regular contributors to the One Act Festival at the Erin Arts Centre in Port Erin and have even represented the Island in the regional finals in Grange-over-Sands and in the British national finals in Felixstowe.

Their normal base is the Arbory Parish Hall in Ballabeg, where they alternate pantomimes with three act plays at each year end.

They have taken some of their productions "on tour" round the Island, having appeared in Ramsey and Laxey and once at Castle Rushen, providing "voice over" for an enactment of the Illam Dhone story. In addition to these normal stage productions, they have also produced murder mystery evenings, in which they act in close contact with the audience, undergoing "ad lib" cross-examination by the members of the audience - very demanding but great fun for all! They also often present "Dinner and Drama" evenings, at which one or two act plays are presented, along with a meal, to provide a very entertaining "night out."

Over the last few years the Arbory Players have presented the pantomimes "The Changeling Princess" and "Beauty and the Beast." The latest three act production in November 2005 was Agatha Christie's "Ten Little Soldier Boys." In February 2006 they presented"Kids" by John Morgan at the One Act Festival and this was repeated on March 11th & 12th at Erin Arts Centre in a double bill shared with Rushen Players.
